Hold Me - by The One With Red Hair. Disclaimer: Yes, I know, zzzzz, but it has to be done if I want to save my skin, my money, my website and my stories! I don't own Mulder, Scully or anything related to The X-Files (I wish I did), they are the precious property of Chris I Am God Carter, 1013, Twentieth Century Fox and probably a bunch of other people. I'm making no money from this, it's here just to enlighten people of the goings-on in my strange little brain. Don't sue me, I'll plead insanity. I will! I mean, come on now. They could even prove that I'm unstable. I *did* write this disclaimer!!! Rating: PG Classification: MSR, V, light A. Summary: Love is the only escape left in this world. Author's Notes: It seems that I'm losing my mind in my old age, as my fics are becoming shorter and shorter! Soon I'll be writing one-liner fanfics (I can see it now - ' "I love you". The End.' Ohhh dear me), if I carry on like this! Noromos and Naxis - get out or regret it forever. Don't bother to flame me - you shouldn't *be* here! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Hold Me. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx "What's wrong?" His voice cut through the night air like glass. It drifted, thick and hazy, around their bodies, before settling upon hers like a gauze. She shivered in the darkness. "Nothing's wrong, Mulder." "I don't believe you." He shifted slightly in the bed, causing the covers to ripple. She sighed. "Nothing. I'm fine." She heard him exhale sharply: a bitter bark of laughter. "Yeah. Right. Fine. Whatever." Why can't you understand, Mulder, she asked silently. Why can't you see that this time nothing can be done? "There's always a way, Scully," he breathed. She cursed their deep bond at this moment: cursed the fact that he knew what she felt, knew what she thought, but couldn't see right now what the matter was. "Not this time, there isn't." It was true. She knew that nothing could chase this demon away. "Please tell me, Scully. Please let me know, so I can help you. Please." His imploring tones tugged at her heartstrings. Suddenly, she couldn't play this game any longer: couldn't pretend to be strong when she was weak. "Hold me..." She whispered the words over and over, barely audible. Mulder heard: Mulder understood. Mulder knew the feeling of isolation when the whole world is against you, even when a veil of love surrounds you. He slid across the void between them and wrapped his arms around her, pressing his warm body against her back. The air around them crackled with the tension they two caused by touching. He pulled her close, and she could surrender. She let out a gasp of air, and the demon slid away - banished once again. And the love they shared protected them both from the evil, leaving them safe and purified in each other's presence. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Copyrighted Red 2000, so there.
