The World Didn't End: In In-Depth Analysis By Red. (Warning: Contains serious spoilers on Millennium) I got all these ideas from the institution, BTW (can be found at http://pages.prodigy.net/kellyyouse/index.htm), before the old plagiarism argument begins again!!! Oh, and bear in mind I haven't seen this episode - I am simply making assumptions, whittling away boredom (this is more fun than sleeping) and trying to confuse ppl so that they will send me nice presents. Mulder said the world didn't end, but he wasn't just referring to... well, the world. Of course, he *was*, but other things too. He kissed Scully as the new year began so that, if the world *did* end, it would be as they were kissing - a perfect goodbye to each other. Of course, as the world *didn't* end, they have to face up to the fact that they love each other once and for all (and now I can understand eXactly why they don't want to, having been in a kinda-sorta-maybe similar sitch myself). So of course, he was kind of hoping it would so that there wouldn't be the fear of having to admit anything. And he would be a little unhappy about it too, as it's very scary for them both, I'm sure!! (trying to get some sympathy going here - come on, guys!) BUT (here we have the other meaning) 'the world' could also mean the X-Files world. By them kissing, we've been told the series will die. But they kissed, and the show still carried on afterwards - it didn't end. Mulder ackowledges that whilst they were scared their kissing *could* ruin everything, it didn't. It's also a slap in the face to all those noromos - HA!!!! Yes, so there you have it. If Mulder confused you with his comment, you're probably now contemplating just killing yourself, as nothing makes sense any more!!!
