Next Please! What does a Phile do when The X-Files is over? I think this is a question many of us are pondering at the moment. It's like suddenly having to completely re-think our strategies. In order to keep going, we can no longer unplug the phone and switch off the lights every Sunday to watch a new episode. We need to find new ways to keep it going. All we need to do is look around at what we've already built for each other. We've got so many stories still to write, so many observations still to make, so many collages to create and conversations to have, and all of that is without taking the next movie into account. We can survive, as long as we are detirmined to do so. Of course, we've still got the actors too. We can follow David and Gillian through their newest roles, we can support Chris Carter's new stuff, and we can continue to collect the posters and make friends with other Philes and discuss our favourite episodes... in fact, now we've got enough time on our hands to learn every episode inside out! My latest project started when I began at uni in September. Me and my boyfriend are watching every episode in order, 2 per week minimum, without fail. We're currently right at the end of season 2 (the next episode is Our Town). I think it gives me lots of new insight into how the show has developed over the years - and, of course, it means every episode gets a fair innings, rather than the more standard and extremely obsessive "Triangle/ Millennium/Amor Fati/Arcadia/Rain King" kind of behaviour. Even the episodes I don't like still get watched (repeat after me: I will not pay too much attention to 3. I will not pay too much attention to 3). And, of course, I'm compiling lists of quotes and stuff, too. Life, my friends, is good :-D
